Recovery Goals at Webster Place

1. Help residents accept the nature of the malidy:

  • Acceptance that they suffer from a chronic and progressive illness of alcoholism and or addiction
  • Acceptance that they have lost the ability to control their drinking or use
  • Acceptance that since there is no effictive cure for alcoholism or addiction, the only viable alternative is complete abstinence from the use of alcohol and other drugs

2.  Show the reality of recovery via surrender to a proven program:

  • Acknowledgement of the part of the residents that there is hope for recovery (sustained, long term sobriety) as demonstrated through the lives of those who have achieved the reality of recovery. And that this is possible only through acceptance of the reality of loss of control and by having faith that a power higher than self will can help where willpower has repeatedly been defeated by alcoholism and or addiction.
  • Recognition that the 12 step fellowships of AA and / NA have helped millions of men and women sustain sobriety and that their best chance for success is to follow the same path.

The goals are reflected in a series of specific and more detailed objectives in each of the following areas :

  • Cognitive
  • Physical
  • Emotional
  • Behavioral
  • Social
  • & Spiritual

The goals and objectives are addressed by the program through a series of sessions, readings, journaling, exercises, meetings, groups and individual discussions as well as interactions via every day chores, enhancements and fun social activities.
