Help for Haiti: Common Man donates profits, Alex Ray heads to Haiti

02/05/10: In January 2010, the Common Man family of restaurants in NH put forth a "Common Effort for Haiti" event, donating 50% of all food sales at 15 locations to disaster relief efforts. Alex Ray, the founder of Webster Place, then packed his bag and went to Haiti to help organize food service. Alex Ray Receives National Humanitarian Award

09/24/09: Alex Ray, philanthropist, founder of the Common Man family of restaurants, and founder of Webster Place Recovery Center, was awarded the National Humanitarian Award by the National Restaurant Association. Alex donated the cash award to Webster Place. Over 200 residents have now been helped at Webster Place since its launch a year and a half ago.

Amazing Transformation in Franklin, NH

03/15/08: Webster Place was once home to an orphanage and later a retreat for Sisters of Holy Cross, finally being abandoned and wrecked by the passage of time and the elements. Now the buildings have been given new life as an agricultural, spiritually-based treatment facility for people with substance abuse issues. City officials had a first look of the newly renovated facility before its opening. Read more...
