Senior Management Staff - Our three senior staff at Webster Place recovery Center bring over 45 years of experience treating alcoholic and chemically dependent individuals and their families in addition to over 55 years of personal experience with 12 Step programs. 
  

John Knowles – Executive Director  (603) 934 - 2020 or (603) 398-6900

John brings over 20 years experience managing and leading inpatient and residential addiction, mental health and dual diagnosis programs. Most recently, John was Director of Residential Services at Central New York Services, an organization providing housing and treatment services with over 500 beds in two Upstate New York counties. In addition, John was a Panel member for the New York State Educational Department’s, Professional Assistance Program for the last 10 years; serving as a Steering Committee member for 5 years. Prior to that position John served as Administrator at P.E.A.C.E., Inc.- the Onondaga County, NY Community Action Agency and the start up of two highly successful inpatient treatment programs - Marworth in Shawnee, PA and Tully Hill in Tully, NY.

His educational background includes a BS and graduate studies in Business Administration, Marketing and Economics with a specialty in Addiction Treatment Administration from the State University of New York. Additional schools of study include Syracuse University, Bloomsburg University and East Stroudsburg University as well as regular attendance at The Rutgers University Advanced School of Alcohol and Drug Studies. He possesses a Certificate in Group Counseling from Villanova University and a Certificate in Medical Records Management from Georgetown University. Leadership training was completed through The Levinson Institute for Executive and Organizational Development. John has served on advisory committees for the Syracuse University School of Social Work, the Cornel University School of Human Ecology, the Psychology Department at The State University of New York - Oswego State University and the Academic Advisory Committee for SUNY – Empire State College. As a faculty member of the NY OASAS Academy of Addiction Science, John has presented on topics such as Alcohol and Other Drug Primer; The Addiction Professional, 12-Step and Other Self-Help Groups; Alcohol and Other Drug Group Counseling: Theories and Techniques; Addiction Counselor Ethics; Clinical Supervision for Alcoholism/Substance Abuse Professionals, Clinical Supervision, and Overview of Relapse Prevention.

 

John received his clinical training through the Geisinger Health System and has/had credentials or certifications on a State, National and Internationals level for Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling, Clinical Supervision, Forensic Counseling, Intervention and Smoking Cessation Specialist. John has served in various capacities, including President, Secretary and Treasurer, with the New York Federation of Addiction Counselors (NYFAC now called AAPNY) the New York affiliate of NAADAC and was one of the original addiction supervisors to be certified by the State of Pennsylvania. He has also assisted in the development and implementation of programs for impaired Doctors, Lawyers, Dentists, Nurses and Pharmacists in New York State and developed highly successful Correction Officers and DWI Chronic Offender programs.  An Intervention Specialist trained in the Johnson Institute model, he has extensive experience working with family members of alcoholics and addicts.

Programs under John’s supervision have gained Joint Commission Accreditation with Commendation; New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services Accreditation with a perfect score for Detoxification, Inpatient and Outpatient Services; United States Department of Agriculture Accreditation; United States Department of Health and Human Services recognition as "Model Program"; and most recently United States Department of Housing and Urban Development recognition of best practice for documentation coupled with the 2007 Community Partnership Award from the HUD Buffalo office. In addition, he has developed housing programs for transitional and permanent housing utilizing combined county, state and federal funding.

 

John has a firm belief in volunteerism and has served his community in numerous ways. John is a member of Rotary International for 17 years and served in various capacities at the Club and District level and was a founding member of the Syracuse Inner-City Rotary Club. A catechist for 10 years while serving on his church council, John has chaired the committee that developed and oversaw a $12 million building project at his local school. The father of three grown sons, John now resides in Franklin, NH with his wife Stacy. He has over 23 years of personal experience working a program of recovery.

 

Stacy Knowles – Program Director  (603) 934 - 2020

A licensed nurse with over 21 years experience as a therapist, Stacy has worked with a wide range of addicted populations. Most recently Program Director of a highly respected and innovative Dual Recovery Program located in Syracuse NY, Stacy has served in various clinical supervisor capacities since 1990. The degree of caring and compassion that Stacy brings to her work with residents cannot be measured and residents who often seek out her counsel are rewarded with thoughtful, caring insight that allows better clarity to the issue.  Known for her reasuring words and comforting hugs, Stacy directs the day to day operation of the program.

 

Stacy has been involved in the start up of two highly successful inpatient treatment programs - Marworth in Shawnee, PA where she worked in the medical and family programs and Tully Hill in Tully, NY where she served 14 years as Family and Outpatient Services Coordinator.  She recently spent the last five years at Central New York Services in Syracuse, NY as Program Director during the start up of a highly successful and innovative dual diagnosis outpatient program. Stacy has extensive experience working with chemically dependent individuals afflicted with other mental illness diagnosis.

Stacy is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC), a Certified Acupuncture Detoxification Therapist, and a Certified Gambling Specialist. An Intervention Specialist trained in the Johnson Institute model, she has extensive experience working with family members. Stacy has received training in process improvement through the NIATx initiative funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation at The University of Wisconsin and has attended the Rutgers University Advanced School of Addiction Studies as well as courses in management through the Levinson Institute.

 

Stacy is active in the Blue Star Mothers of New Hampshire (http://www.geocities.com/bluestarmothersofnh/) organization as the proud mother of two members of the US military - an Army 1st LT and Marine LCPL.  Stacy brings over 23 years of personal experience with 12 Step programs. Stacy is married to John and is the mother of three grown sons. Stacy resides in Franklin, NH.

Doug brings over 11 years of personal experience with 12 Step programs to his new position.  Doug was the chairperson of the founding board that advanced the idea of Webster Place Recovery Center.  His vision to create a place for persons to "Grow into Recovery" in a setting that was dignified has inspired a host of others to become "Friends of Webster Place". His tireless efforts helped bring the vision to a reality and he is credited with providing the calm, steady direction to the project during it's earliest and most difficult stages.  

 

A successful businessman with over 40 years experience in business marketing and administration, Doug is a long time advocate of recovery in his community, Doug is often cited for his caring and compassion for the still suffering alcoholic and addict.  A strong proponent of solid 12 Step work, Doug has facilitated numerous step studies with newly recovered individuals.

 

Involved in numerous business start ups during his career, Doug most recently served as VP of Sales, for Invoice Connection Corporation of Carlsbad, California. He attended St Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire. Doug is married to Sharon and the father of four children. Doug resides in Plymouth, NH.

Our staff of caring and competent 12 Step Practitioners is available to residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The diverse background and commitment to quality care ensure that individual attention can be afforded to each resident in a language they can understand.

With over 20 years of practicing recovery, Tom has developed valuable experience helping people of all walks of life find freedom from addiction. Tom's practical wisdom, genuine compassion, and insightful recovery counsel have helped our residents bring clarity to the distortion of perception from addiction. His dedication helps the many people he reaches out to who stay sober a day at a time. 

 

Tom has been involved with the planning of Webster Place from the begining and started  a recovery community center on campus at Last House on the Road as well as various other "sober house" projects in the Lakes Region over the years.  As the Program Enhancement Coordinator Tom is responsible to see that all residents are provided with a wide range of activities to enhance and stimulate their recovery experience.  In addition, Tom coordinates Aftercare Planning for all residents appraoching discharge.

 

Tom and his wife Tammy reside in Northfield, NH with thier daughter Brianna and have three other grown children.

 

Dan Killrain - Farmer (603) 934 - 2020

"Farmer Dan", as he affectionately known to the residents of Webster Place, is responsible for the day to day facility maintenance and the entire farming operation that includes year round seedlings, maple sugaring, maintaining, harvesting and rotating of crops. In addition, he supervises the farm livestock and the sugar house.  A member of the American Horticulture Therapy Association, "Farmer Dan" includes a strong educational component in his work with the residents and is often cited on our satisfaction surveys for his wealth of knowledge and kind, caring approach.
